Charging etiquette: idle fees, queues and sharing stations

5 Oct 2026 · 3 min read · EVee Buddy Team

Public chargers are shared spaces. A few simple habits make charging faster and friendlier for everyone, including you on your next stop.

1. Move your car when you are done

A charging bay is for charging, not parking. Follow your session in the EVee Buddy app and return when it is close to finishing.

2. Unplug at 80% on fast chargers

Charging slows sharply after about 80%. Unplugging then frees the charger for the next driver and saves you time on your trip.

3. Pick the right charger

If you are staying for hours, use an AC charger and leave the DC fast chargers for drivers on the move.

4. Handle cables with care

Hang the cable back on its holder and keep connectors off the ground. A dropped connector can collect dirt and water and stop working.

5. Report problems

If a charger is faulty, report it through the app or call support. Our team monitors chargers remotely, but your report helps us act faster.

6. Never unplug another car

Even if a session looks finished, leave other vehicles alone. Contact support if a car is blocking a charger for a long time.

About idle fees

Some networks charge an idle fee when a car stays plugged in after charging has finished. The aim is to keep chargers free for the next driver, not to earn extra. Check the station details in the app for any idle fee before you charge.

7. Be patient in a queue

At busy times, wait your turn and give the driver ahead a moment to return. Everyone is trying to get back on the road.
