Every charger in a network needs to be watched, priced, paid for and maintained. A charge point management system, or CPMS, is the software that does this from one place.
What a CPMS handles
- Monitoring: live status of every charger and connector.
- Remote control: start, stop, reset and configure chargers without a site visit.
- Sessions: a record of every charge, with energy, duration and payment.
- Pricing: tariffs by site, time of day or user group.
- Payments and users: driver accounts, collections and refunds.
- Reports: utilization, uptime and revenue by site.
How chargers connect
Chargers talk to a CPMS using OCPP, an open protocol. A CPMS that supports OCPP 1.6J and 2.0.1 lets you choose hardware from different makers instead of being locked to one.
What to look for
- Open standards (OCPP for chargers, OCPI for roaming).
- Alerts that flag faults before drivers find them.
- Clear reports you can act on.
- Support for app-based and app-less payments.
- Room to grow from a handful of chargers to hundreds.
The EVee Buddy CPMS
We built our own CPMS to run the EVee Buddy network, and we offer it to other operators, either on its own or with our managed operations services.
