What dynamic power sharing is, and why it matters for multi-gun stations

14 Oct 2026 · 4 min read · EVee Buddy Team

A charging station with several guns rarely needs full power on every gun at once. Different cars accept different amounts of power, and each car's demand drops as its battery fills. Dynamic power sharing uses this to get more out of the same equipment.

How it works

Instead of a fixed power block for each gun, a central power cabinet holds a pool of power modules. The system checks what each connected vehicle can accept and allocates power accordingly, changing the split second by second.

An example

A 240 kW cabinet serves four guns. One car arrives nearly empty and can take 150 kW; it gets it. A second car can only accept 50 kW; it gets 50 kW. As the first car passes 80% and slows down, its spare power moves to newly arriving vehicles.

Why it matters

  • Better use of hardware: power that one car cannot use goes to another instead of sitting idle.
  • Lower cost per gun: more guns can share one cabinet and one grid connection.
  • Faster average sessions: each car gets close to its maximum when it needs it most.
  • Fits grid limits: the total never exceeds what the site can supply.

Static vs dynamic sharing

Static sharing splits power evenly, for example 50/50 between two guns, whatever the cars need. Dynamic sharing adjusts to each vehicle in real time and delivers noticeably better results on busy sites.

Where to use it

Highway hubs, malls, fleet depots and any site where several vehicles charge at once. EVee Buddy designs multi-gun sites with power sharing so you can add guns without multiplying grid capacity.
