Remote monitoring and diagnostics: fixing faults before drivers notice

2 Nov 2026 · 5 min read · EVee Buddy Team

The worst way to find out a charger is broken is from an angry driver. Connected chargers constantly report their status, and with the right monitoring an operator can spot most problems early and fix many without anyone visiting the site.

What chargers report

  • Availability: available, charging, faulted or offline.
  • Error codes from power modules, connectors and payment terminals.
  • Temperatures, including connector and cooling system readings.
  • Voltage, current and power during each session.
  • Session starts, stops and failures.
  • Connection quality and time since last contact.

From data to action

  1. Detect: automatic alerts for faults, offline chargers or unusual readings.
  2. Diagnose remotely: check logs and error codes to understand the cause.
  3. Fix remotely where possible: soft or hard resets, configuration changes and firmware updates resolve many issues.
  4. Dispatch: when a part has failed, send a technician who already knows what to bring.
  5. Confirm: verify the charger is working with a test session.

Catching problems early

  • Rising temperatures can signal blocked filters or failing fans.
  • Repeated failed sessions on one gun may point to a worn connector.
  • Lower power than expected may mean a failing power module.
  • Frequent disconnections may mean poor mobile signal or a faulty modem.

Measures that show it is working

  • Uptime per charger.
  • Share of faults fixed remotely.
  • Time to detect and time to fix.
  • Failed session rate.
